Coming this November is yet another Roald Dahl book converted to a movie, The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Featuring the voices of George Clooney, Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, it features a collective of farmers who grow tired of constantly losing chickens to the titular fox. United in purpose, the farmers set out to rid themselves of the fox for good, but they discover that that’s a job easier said than done. Check out the trailer! If you’re calling this an Ocean’s Eleven for the barnyard set, well, you’re not alone. But that doesn’t seem to be a bad thing as this one looks to have some charm. By ‘little thing’, I mean some trivial, irrelevant, and/or otherwise insignificant thing that is happening in the scene (often in the background and by characters who are not related to what is happening).
For example, the first time they all dig underground and Mr. & Mrs. Fox are about to step on the ‘other side of this mineral deposit’, watch Kristofferson. He is meditating, and keeps getting distracted by them talking. He finally and very subtly rolls his eyes and gets back to it. This is completely and totally irrelevant to the story, and it not part of the scene, but it is one of the little things you notice with repeat viewings that just demonstrates how much went into this movie and adds to the enjoyment.
I seriously couldn’t get into it. Thought i would see it as it was animated and some good animated movies that I just randomly picked due to IMDB’s rating such as UP.
Didn’t read the books so maybe i can’t appreciate it in that respect but non the less was just so dry.
