I saw this film because I thought it was a great concept for a film, I mean, there are SO many places to go with the story.. and they took the worst possible path.
The animation was top notch, you can tell they spent some dough, but wow, with such a great potential, the writing was downright awful. I checked out the Writer and what is obvious is that he is not talented when writing alone, notice on films of any level of success he wrote with partners (the Shrek films there were like 5 writers), so he works best in a group, but is over the top and cliche flying solo.
The first 15 minutes were just simply story development at it’s most infantile stage… and boring. I found myself looking at my watch about 30 minutes in thinking ‘how much time is left in this thing?’ and looking over at my girlfriend only to discover that she was taking a nice nap.
Oh and I know people will say ‘it’s a kids movie’… ok, yeah, a kids movie, but with a reference to a guys d*** as an ‘antenna’??? Seriously?? In a kids animated film? Yeah, I had a problem with that. And it had a few other inappropriate quips for a kids film.. Shrek has ‘adult’ humor, but it was clever and not so blatant… this just didn’t work on any level for me in the story, and it’s just a shame too.
Anyhow, just really disappointing because it was such a great concept for an animated film and it is an opportunity wasted.
Eighty percent of success is showing up. ~Woody Allen
Wow, I thought the debacle called princess and the Frog (Disney) was the worse animated film in quote awhile.
WRONG!
This film was simply mind numbing, tard drooling, dirt puking awful.
1. The animation is about equal to what a 7th grader can do with a $200 mac program. That’s not syaing it’s bad, but it is far from good.
2. the story is simply bad, undeveloped, simplistic and VERY boring. These writers need to take lessons or maybe graduate screenwriting classes at their community college.
3. Sony stinks at animated films. They have yet to have a hit.
4. The most retarded thing in this film is when the "scientist" alien picks up a candy wrapper, (can you say paid product placement) is asked by all thoe around him if he knows what the strange characters say and makes up what the words say to make it sound like the "visitor" has evil intentions. Obviously the writers and directors did not think this through as all the signs in the town, all the comic books, their native language (which they even make mention of) are in english. Even the freekin little kids in the audience caught this one. And if you want to use the excuse that the barcode numbers were what they were referring to, these "aliens" also used the same numbers. Major screwup.
5. The chick aliens wear dresses but the guy aliens are pantless.
6. The animation looked half finished and everything about this film screams direct to DVD or made for the cartoon channel.
7. Not worth the $1.50 for Budget Theater.

ok i am bad, i am currently watching an online version, 25 minutes in it and i didn’t find anything funny so far, everything seems forced, isn’t this supposed to be a comedy, where is the funny part, not so far
