Sex and the City 2
The four glitziest ladies ever to hit Manhattan as a single force–Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte–are back, fabulous as ever, in Sex and the City 2. They may be older, and even a little wiser, but the pulls of love, lust, careers, and a pair of well-turned stilettos are still the focus of this Fab Four. As the women gamely face the prospect of aging–children, menopause, glass ceilings, and, in Carrie’s opinion a fate worse than death–domesticity–they still manage to sparkle with th

After all these years of seeing 50 and 60 something fulfilled men living fantastic lives, bragging about their many girlfriends and their many cars, houses, companies while smoking some cigar…
IT’S an ORGASM…
to see 40 and 50 sthg fulfilled women living glamorous lives, bragging about their many boyfriends and their many shoes, dresses, professional and sexual accomplishments while sipping on some cocktails.
So if you wanna pick on these women for being materialistic, fake and selfish, please start with JR in Dallas, all the gangsters in all the mafia movies, Geiko in "Wall Street", Richard Gere in "Pretty Woman"… Oh sorry I don’t remember EVER hearing how selfish, materialistic and fake they are.
All Guys want to be De Niro, Al Pacino or The Godfather because they are so wonderful and giving humans in their movies.
So it’s just charismatic to kill a guy in front of 50 people and then throwing a tantrum because it stained the pricey carpet (Denzel Washington in "American Gangster") but it’s silly and materialistic to dream about a fairytale wedding or some designer shoes.
That’s our double standards in films today.
I’m really sad to see how sexist film critics are. THe most acclaimed movies of all times depict the most horrible humans ever, but it has always been glorified. When women dare to enjoy watching fun but selfish women, we become the silliest creatures on earth.
Having the girls wear burqa to escape the angry men in the village was so ridiculous. And to add insult, Carrie while wearing the burqa exposes her leg to hail a cab? She’s lucky her head wasn’t cut off from the angry mob.
Is anyone really that surprised the movie turned out to be anti-muslim?
The moment I heard it was set in Abu Dhabi I knew it was going to be offensive to the culture.
Here are some ‘clues’ that the series and the first film were racist as well for all of you who never noticed them or have forgotten all about them:
1. All the important characters are white American only. All of them.
2. The only African American dude was Samantha’s boyfriend whose sister turned out to be a racist (!) and
3. Miranda’s boyfriend Robert who was perfect (young, successful, sexy, respectful, rich, kind and even well-endowed) who she left for a white American bartender with one ball. Not to mention he was only introduced in the final season of the series amidst anti-racial claims from tv-show critics.
4. Members of other races or nationalities were only low-class people who simply lived to serve the girls (yes, just like slaves).
Examples – a. Magda THE UKRANIAN HOUSKEEPER, b. Anthony THE ITALIAN WEDDING-PLANNER, c. THE AFRICAN AMERICAN LIMO DRIVER, d. A million RUSSION CAB DRIVERS, e. Louise THE AFRICAN AMERICAN ASSISTANT (who can’t afford a fuc*ing purse so Carrie has to buy her one) and so on. No other than white American people can ever be a success in the SATC world.
4. The only non-American character who was a success was Alexander Petrovsky who turned out to be a creep and even gave Carrie a slap on the face (!).
I could go on for but I bet you all know some other example or two and it’s all been discussed before.
That’s why I’m surprised there are so many ‘can’t believe it’s so’ comments. Of course it is. Michael Patrick King is clearly a racist and this film is just a cherry on top which he will get away with once again. And that’s not fair. Why?
Imagine if someone made a film about four Muslim woman who came to America and made fun of American tradiotions. How do you think America would react? My guess is in world war 3 proportions.
